Fisher Information in Weighted Distributions

چکیده
Standard inference procedures assume a random sample from a population with density fθ(x) for estimating the parameter θ. However, there are many applications in which the available data are a biased sample instead. Fisher modeled biased sampling using a weight function w(x) ≥ 0, and constructed a weighted distribution with a density f θ (x) that is proportional to w(x)fθ(x). In this paper, we assume that fθ(x) belongs to an exponential family, and study the Fisher information about θ in observations obtained from some commonly arising weighted distributions: (i) the kth order statistic of a random sample of size m, (ii) observations from the stationary distribution of the residual lifetime of a renewal process, and (iii) truncated distributions. We give general conditions under which the weighted distribution has greater Fisher information than the original distribution, and specialize to the normal, gamma, and Weibull distributions. These conditions involve the distributions’ hazard rate and the reversed hazard rate functions.

Relations between Renyi Distance and Fisher Information
In this paper, we first show that Renyi distance between any member of a parametric family and its perturbations, is proportional to its Fisher information. We, then, prove some relations between the Renyi distance of two distributions and the Fisher information of their exponentially twisted family of densities. Finally, we show that the partial ordering of families induced by Renyi dis...
متن کاملSome Results on Weighted Cumulative Entropy
Considering Rao et al. (2004) and Di Crescenzo and Longobardi (2009) studies, Misagh et al. (2011) proposed a weighted information which is based on the cumulative entropy called Weighted Cumulative Entropy (WCE). The above-mentioned model is a Shiftdependent Uncertainty Measure. In this paper, we examine some of the properties of WCE and obtain some bounds for that. In order to ...
متن کاملThe Weighted Exponentiated Family of Distributions: Properties, Applications and Characterizations
In this paper a new method of introducing an additional parameter to a continuous distribution is proposed, which leads to a new class of distributions, called the weighted exponentiated family. A special sub-model is discussed. General expressions for some of the mathematical properties of this class such as the moments, quantile function, generating function and order statistics are derived;...
متن کاملUsing Weighted Distributions for Modeling Skewed, Multimodal and Truncated Data
When the observations reflect a multimodal, asymmetric or truncated construction or a combination of them, using usual unimodal and symmetric distributions leads to misleading results. Therefore, distributions with ability of modeling skewness, multimodality and truncation have been in the core of interest in statistical literature, always. There are different methods to contract ...

In this paper the author analyzes the weighted Renyi entropy in order to derive several inequalities in weighted case. Furthermore, using the proposed notions α-th generalized deviation and (α, p)-th weighted Fisher information, extended versions of the moment-entropy, Fisher information and Cramér-Rao inequalities in terms of generalized Gaussian densities are given. 1 The weighted p-Renyi ent...
